About Stephanie
My name is Stephanie, I’m a mama of two, a partner, and Registered Clinical Counsellor.
I’ve been an empath and helper my whole life so it was only fitting I went into the helping professions. I’ve worked with children and families in many capacities over the years - helping others heal and grow is my passion.
Since becoming a mom, a whole new area of my heart and career has opened up - and that is why I started this practice.
Counselling specialization:
I work as a family counsellor in Coquitlam and Langley, BC and here at MaternalCare I work with moms (and moms to be) and gestational parents, supporting them in their transition to motherhood known as the perinatal period. My focus is perinatal health and wellness however I work with any women or gestational parents who are struggling. As a family counsellor, parenting support sessions are also available - supporting you to navigate and support your children through their struggles.
I also do couples work and see parents together and offer joint counselling sessions for family members. In addition to that, I am pleased to offer clients including pre-teens and teens the walk and talk nature therapy model. Join me outdoors where the non-traditional face to face model of therapy opens up new possibilities of growth and wellness.
I work collaboratively for the SouthRock Perinatal Wellness Collective in Surrey, BC. We are a collective of professionals offering support to new families and helping build community

I am also a registered CVAP (Crime Victim Assistance Program) Provider.
I use an integrative approach to counselling - based on individual and family needs. Creating a safe and warm environment for all clients opens the door to healing and the opportunity to discover new tools so you can navigate life with more ease. My goal in therapy is to help you achieve a deeper understanding about yourself, your family, and what is needed for you to thrive.

My Philosophy
I believe that we are all born good. Human beings are wired for connection and thrive under conditions where stable, healthy attachments are present. Through our environment and experiences we adopt coping mechanisms that aren’t always to our advantage. Human beings possess the incredible capacity however, to grow, learn, and adapt. We are resilient and our human spirit - the desire to find or maintain that goodness with which we were born - is always under the surface waiting to be set free when we lose our way. Often, we need some help with this - that is where therapy becomes a gift to oneself and those who we love and who love us.

I am Here For You
After giving birth, mothers are likely to experience a wide range of feelings. Signs of depression or an anxiety disorder may appear within the first year after birth and can last for months or even years. These signs include feelings of sadness, worry, and fatigue. Unlike "baby blues," these feelings are more intense and longer lasting, and may not resolve on their own.
